National Day Parade 2013

parked xiao bai at shaw house and walked through suntec city to get to marina square. the aunty side of me decided that we reach 2ish, only to realise that the gates only open to public at 4pm. waited at an air-conditioned corner of the shopping mall, near to the entrance to the gate. queue started to form about 315pm and the kiasu me got dear to join the queue. glad that we were at the front of the line as it was a breeze through the security clearance and fun pack collection. could have gotten a better spot for pictures if we had known that they were not that stringent at checking tickets. nevertheless, we had a good view.

figured that i am lousy when it comes to capturing moments and living things. better off sticking to shoot still objects and displays. *bleah* enjoyed the live parade from the float @ marina bay after 19 years lapse. the main story did not change since then till now, but the way it was being told makes a difference. happy 48th birthday singapore!

Dad's "Staycation" for Long Weekend

sent dad to hospital on monday evening as his fever did not subside through the day and temperature went up to as high as 39 degree celsius. last week was his 5th cycle of chemotherapy and seems like his body is still not able to adapt to the strong medication. he was admitted to hospital after the 4th cycle with similar symptoms of fever and diarrhea. doctor had advised that his diarrhea this round was due to the antibiotics that was given (encourages a certain virus to thrive), they had since given him another medication together with the antibiotics to stop this. dad has to be warded for at least 5 days as the antibiotics were given via intravenous (iv) therapy rather than oral. in order to bring up his white blood cells and platelets count, he also received blood transfusion.

dad might have reacted adversely to the medication as chemotherapy was given at medical day centre with time limitation and they had no choice but to increase the rate of infusion. his doctor-in-charge, doctor sreekanth arranged for him to be warded for his next treatment cycle which will hopefully decrease the side effects. doctor sreekanth also advised that 50% of the cancer cells has been destroyed and will probably need to increase the number of chemotherapy sessions from 6 to 8.

sort of lucky that dad has to be put in isolation and he got automatically upgraded again to A ward at B2's costs. it was a pretty good experience the last he was put in A ward as the nurses and caregivers were more attentive and a get-well-soon card was given to him during discharge. little cakes and pastries were distributed to the wards this festive period and it makes me wonder if this is a privilege for A ward only.
A ward - sofa bed, coffee table, television, bar fridge, work desk and private bathroom
08 Aug - Hari Raya Puasa
09 Aug - National Day
a great recommendation from janice for dad and thanks to janice for the constant supply. dad has been using this toothpaste for more than a month and according to him, it helps to keep the mouth moist and soothes ulcer pains.
3M - Clinpro - Tooth Creme
