1st Treatment - Side Effects & Aftermath
dad felt dizzy and lost his appetite the day he was discharged after the 1st treatment. the giddy spells went away after 1-2 days but he had absolutely no appetite for about 2 weeks. i deduced it to be due to the fact that everything tasted blend to him and he survived on minimal cereal everyday. he complained of hunger but did not want or feel like eating. apart from the loss of appetite, he also felt nausea for the 1st week, slight constipation and hair loss issue. besides drinking loads of water to minimise and manage these side effects, dad has been drinking 白花蛇草水 (oldenlandia water) and fresh coconut water on a daily basis.
after 2 weeks from the 1st treatment, dad's appetite improved and was eating normally right up to the 1st day of 2nd treatment. in fact, he was eating more than usual - many meals in small quantity. we tried to keep his diet as healthy as possible - no oil, minimal sea salt and minimal sugar (uses honey as replacement when possible). as per our relatives and my parents' friends recommendations, mum has since embarked on a daily juice diet for dad (which he hates) a week after his 1st treatment - apple, beet root & carrot and 优遁草 & green apple.
2nd Treatment - RCHOP
treatment started around 4pm on 27 may. the medications were infused together with sodium chloride and dad did not show any signs of adverse reaction. the whole process ended slightly after 10pm and he was discharged the following afternoon.
all was well till the peglasta jab on 30 may. the jab is supposed to increase dad's immunity but has several side effects attached. he began to experience body aches, especially the chest area. as advised by the medical team, we gave him paracetamol to relieve the pain. his appetite worsen starting 01 jun mainly due to the pain / uncomfortableness.
