rituximab infusion resumed on saturday morning at 25 millilitres per hour. there was no more adverse reaction from dad which is good, the only down side was that it would take a longer time to complete the full dosage. as long as the medication is effective and dad does not have to suffer, the duration does not really matter. we are thankful for the nurses who came to check on dad periodically (about an hour interval). the infusion ended on sunday morning and dad was put on saline to cleanse the system. due to the surcharge that would be imposed for medication delivery on sunday, RCHOP was continued on monday. however, i was unable to be present when CHOP was given to dad. according to both mum and dad, the medication that was done via drip took about an hour and 2 others were given through a huge syringe. i was glad that dad did not show any signs of uncomfortableness throughout the day and night but cannot help but worry that side effects would surface in the middle of the night.
it was a routine that dad and mum would be on the phone before they sleep at night and after they wake up in the morning during the days my dad was warded. dad complained over the phone that morning (tuesday, after completion of RCHOP) of loss of appetite and giddy spells. when we reached the hospital, dad refused to have the breakfast that mum prepared and rested in bed the whole morning. doctors came by around 10am and certified that dad can be discharged. it was a long wait for the paper work to be done and we were on the way home only around 4pm.
appreciate everyone who showed concern, especially my girls who gave really useful advice and quanrong who took time off to get bird's nest for my parents. thank you.
